Silibinin shows toxicity via EGFR
We explored how silibinin, a compound from milk thistle, impacts brain tumor cells by focusing on the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). In our study, we created a specific rat glioma cell line expressing human EGFR. Our results showed that the presence of EGFR was crucial for silibinin to exert its toxic effects on cancer cells. By inhibiting the activation of EGFR, silibinin demonstrates potential as a therapeutic agent for targeting tumor growth. However, further research is needed to understand the detailed mechanisms at play.

Improved detoxification
Milk Thistle, with Silymarin, is well-researched and beneficial. As a retiree, I feel this supplement has helped eliminate toxins, improving my overall well-being. Studies indicate it positively affects brain function and aids in managing type 2 diabetes, with lower fasting blood sugars. This has been invaluable for detoxifying alongside addressing my brain tumor.
